Terms like these are fine if you're trying to intensify some fantasy context like a time traveling DeLorean or a federation star ship.  But everyday business?  Do you realise that the more terms like this are invented and used, the more IM distances itself from the carbon based quasi-autonomous sentient beings who actually create, capture, maintain, manage and depend on these documents and records?

As if the IM function is in deep enough.  The next time you give an info session or training session with real live people, watch closely when you mention that a record or document can be an information asset of business or non-business value.

There is a new policy move in Canada to shift responsibility for managing business information from traditional records and information management resources “to the desktop”. This means now the people who create, capture and use information to carry out their job activities (the infosumer) will be responsible for managing this information.
